What is Health Coaching?

Are you new to health coaching? Or maybe you are new to coaching altogether? Well first, I'm glad you found me! Thank you for stopping by! It means you are on your way to a better life! Below you will find an explanation of what exactly coaching is and then what health coaching is. 

So first, what is coaching? 

 

Coaching is a partnership. Not exactly what you were expecting? Well, let me explain. Most of us at least have somewhat of an idea of what we need to do to live our healthiest lives possible (how many times have you made the New Year’s resolution to eat healthier? Or maybe lose ten pounds? Or exercise more?). We generally know what needs to be done, but the real problem is getting there. How do you implement those changes? How do you remove, or at least lessen, those roadblocks? How do you keep your motivation going? That is where a coach comes in. A coach bridges the gap between where you currently are and where you want to be. I am here to listen to your story, your needs, and your roadblocks. I am here to help create a plan AND accountability for that plan. I am here to help you establish achievable goals and identify and navigate your personal roadblocks. If you need a little help along the way, I am also here to provide education, when it is needed. And lastly, I will help you build your habits and lifestyle to be able to do this on your own once our time together is complete.

 

 

Now, on to health coaching. What can I do for you as a health coach?

 

When it comes to being a health coach, I am not a doctor; I am also not a nurse. I am actually not a licensed medical healthcare professional at all. I do not diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any physical, mental, or emotional issues. I do not order or look at lab work. I do not do any type of medical testing. So, what the heck can I do for you??

 

A lot actually! It is everything I told you above with the specific niche of guiding you to a more energetic and mentally clear life so you can enjoy time with your family. I will help you piece together the puzzle to get you to your optimal health. I will also help you uncover the wellness goals and ambitions that will work for YOUR life, not someone else’s. With that, we will look at the different areas that can affect your health (for better or for worse… but to be clear, we are here to make those areas better): nutrition, movement, and lifestyle. This all means we will: create your own personal plan (using SMART goals), determine your own personal barriers and create your own personal action items to remove said barriers, devise your own personal accountability program, and I will be your guide, your cheerleader, and educator all along the way.

Now, to help save you some time, you’re in the wrong place if:

  • You need someone to tell you exactly what to do. As a coach, I am not here to do that. I am not going to be your boss. Real coaches do not say “go do this and this and this, and then your life will be perfect!” I am here to be your partner, your support, your guide. 

  • If you are looking for quick fixes. I’m sorry. I don’t have those. I am here to help guide you to more energy and mental clarity for life.

  • If you are looking for me to help you diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any physical, mental, or emotional issues, I am not going to do that (for specific issues I very highly recommend you seek out a professional healthcare specialist). See my fully disclaimer here.
